How does Integrative Therapy differ from other forms of therapy?

We integrate what we believe are some of the best of evidence based practices to create a wholistic approach for every individual.

There is no perfect path to healing, and one can find as many approaches as there are therapists. We as practitioners are lifelong learners ourselves always learning new ways to support greater psychological wellness. What we seek to accomplish in integrative psychotherapy is to bring together practices to approach mind, body, emotions, relationships, spirituality where applicable and overall greater sense of purpose and connection.

We approach your challenges from the root causes, digging into the underlying essence of relationship difficulties, trauma, physical and emotional pain, addiction, anxiety, confusion, or depression.

With an arsenal of effective healing modalities, your transformation will beautifully unfold in our care, with as much guidance and support as you need.

Our mission is to support the unfolding of your true self and empower you with the confidence and tools to be your best self.

Some of the therapeutic modalities we work with are EMDR, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, breathwork, somatic therapy, yoga, hypnotherapy, CBT, and nutritional interventions. Each modality can be a primary focus of therapy but often they are woven together and integrated in an individualized healing path that is unique to each client. We recognize that every individual has unique strengths and challenges and we customize the best psychological wellness plan to fit your needs. You can learn more about some of these below and if you have any questions at all, we encourage you to reach out.

EMDR

EMDR is a proven effective therapy that is commonly sought after by patients who suffer ailments such as PTSD, personality disorders and abnormalities, or disturbing memories. However, there are a lot of things that can make a client a great candidate for healing through EMDR. The letters stand for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, and it is a method that mimics the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) cycle during sleep when it is thought that we process recent events in our lives. Through eye movements and psychotherapy combined, your therapist can assist you in activating both sides of your brain, allowing you to process more information about certain life-altering events and mindsets while also lessening your emotional charge to them, inevitably giving you a new perspective.

Internal Family Systems

We recognize that while we are a whole and complete individual, certain aspects of ourselves can by compartmentalized or operating from different goals. Sometimes “a part” of us gets upset, angry, and engages in self-destructive behavior, while another part of us has a broader perspective and has a sense of the best coarse of action in any given situation.

Internal Family Systems is sometimes called “parts work” because it helps us work with parts of ourself that can be at odds with each other.

In IFS therapy, the parts of ourselves can be categorized into wounded components, which carry painful emotions like anger and shame, and protective elements that attempt to manage and shield us from the distress caused by our wounded parts. The healing process involves fostering a connection between these parts and our core Self, which represents the innate, confident, and compassionate essence at the heart of every person.

By nurturing this relationship, individuals can integrate and heal these conflicting parts, leading to a more harmonious, self-aware, and resilient state of being.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a body-centered therapy that largely deals with re-regulating our nervous system. The concept stems from the belief that traumatic experiences interrupt the nervous system and prevents you from processing future events optimally. By working directly with your emotional brain and nervous system, we can release emotional and cognitive blocks to allow healing.

Depending on your upbringing, or perhaps layers of different trauma, your body can become accustomed to, or even stuck,  responding to threats a certain way. Your somatic therapist will pay close attention to your body while in therapy and help you physically work through subjects that causes great distress. Some of these exercises involve breathing techniques, boundary setting, grounding, movement, full expression, and letting go! Somatic therapy is an excellent choice for those who have tried other forms of therapy without much progress or those who need therapy that emphasizes mind-body connections.

Emotion-Focused Therapy

Emotional-Focused Therapy originated as a practice for couples. We also see this as a helpful tool for all those who struggle with destructive or overwhelming emotions. With an EFT Practitioner, you can transform your emotions from a burden into a valuable tool by learning to identify your emotions, harnessing their power to improve your live and relationships, and then letting them help guide your next action. An experienced EFT Practitioner can help you fully process and utilize your emotions, making them one of your best allies in creating a fully satisfying life.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness comes from a place of generating a greater awareness, literally being mind-full. Whatever reason has brought you to consider therapy has also likely robbed you of feeling joy and ease in your everyday life, being present with family, friends, and work, or just being in general.

Mindfulness is often taught as a form of meditation, but don’t worry! There are many ways to practice mindfulness that clients both find helpful and enjoy. When you experience increased joy, expanded awareness, reduced stress, and a greater sense of self and well-being, you will consider it a potent medicine!

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a well-researched and highly effective approach to accessing deeply rooted beliefs that may not be serving you well anymore. During a hypnotherapy session, a patient is fully aware of everything that happens and is in complete control, however, their conscious mind is deeply relaxed. It is in this state that we are able to access the subconscious mind, release sources of distress and transmute any unhealthy patterns into healthy ones.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy aims at improving your mental and emotional life by changing the way you relate to your thoughts. CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions and behaviors such all or nothing, assuming the worst, mind reading, and catastrophizing, all of which can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Changing how you think can improving emotional regulation and gives you a large number of personal coping strategies to help you tackle whatever problems you may be facing.

We support you to be better leaders, managers, employees and overall problem solvers.
